Apple has issued many different so-called “upgrades” to its music library program iTunes. iTunes is a wonderful program but it does have a few problems in its actual application now and again. iTunes can be a selfish, spoiled child when it comes to what it deems foreign music, which is basically everything that doesn’t come from the online iTunes store. Those of you with old CD-ROMs you’ve been stockpiling for years and are now looking to upload them to your iTunes this includes you too, not just the P2P guys and gals.

If you’ve seen a missing album cover in your iTunes cover flow from some music you didn’t get from the iTunes store, then tried to get the cover art through you iTunes account (a requirement for iTunes to even look for the album art by the way), and then you were told that the album cover cannot be found because the art doesn’t exist. You can try to locate the correct album cover art over countless websites, copy them, resize them, and then discover a way to upload them to their correct locations in your iTunes library. You skip through and through and everyone single one of your songs is gray album cover with gray music notes. Ok once in a while you have that beautiful album cover from your favorite band but the majority of your music is without album covers. What a shame because music sounds even better when you have the rockin’ album covers that go with that music. It’s like a perfect combination. I’m a very visual person and I like to see what I’m listening to but all I see is gray, gray, gray nothing else. Not digging the gray!!

You must fix this annoying situation as it’s a huge problem for you. You have an very high end tool like the iPhone or iPod but you are not using it to the fullest with all it can do for you. The album cover artwork is KEY to your music and you must have it with you when you sync your music from your iTunes. You need to fix this problem and fix this problem now.

Can you do it by hand? Well yes you can add album cover artwork by hand but it’s too tedious and takes way too long to get them all in one by one. And if you have a huge iTunes library then think of spending several weeks to a month to add the album cover artwork by hand because it’s going to take a really long time. Remember you first have to find those album covers online then select the albums in iTunes then attach it. Now that will take way damn too long. You have much better things to do than sitting in front of the computer attaching artwork right? It’s just not doable.

This is how you can download iTunes onto your computer. It’s really very simple. Put music onto iTunes. Plug in your iPod into the computer using the USB cord it came with, and follow the instructions that pop up.

If you have already put music onto your ipod, the only way to get music off is by plugging it into the computer and either un-checking the song, or deleting it from your iTunes library.

What Software Program You Should Use To Fix Your iTunes Library

These days there are many software programs that claim to do this. However, many of them are really bad or not working at all! Therefore you should get a software program that has a really high reputation, and lots of great and good feedback.

Making your own iPhone ringtones in iTunes with any non-DRM protected music file is free and very easy to do.

First, you must make sure that iTunes is using the AAC encoder when importing files. For Windows users, click Edit > Preferences, then click on Import Settings under the General tab (Mac users click iTunes > Preferences). Select the AAC Encoder in the first drop down menu, and click OK.

Select the Music folder on the sidebar, Right Click your song (ctrl + Click for Mac users) and then Get Info. Now go to the Options tab and designate a Start and Stop Time for the portion of the song you wish to use. Make sure that the interval is less than 40 seconds, and that both check boxes are filled.

Return to your music library, Right Click on your song, and then select Create AAC Version. This will create a new shortened copy of the song beneath the original.

You will now need to convert this copy into an .m4r file so it can be imported into your iPhone. Right click the file and select Show in Windows Explorer (Show in Finder on Mac). Select the file, then copy and paste a new version into the same folder (Windows users can do this by pressing Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V, and Mac users by pressing Command + C then Command + V).

After pasting the new copy of the file, simply select the file and click on the file name, then change the .m4a extension to .m4r. If the .m4a extension does not appear in the filename, Windows XP users can click on Tools > Folder Options, then click the View tab and uncheck “Hide Extensions for known file types”. On Windows Vista, this same option can be found under Organize > Folder and Search Options. You can also change the filename if you wish, and make sure to remove any hyphens or other symbols from the name.

Go back into iTunes and delete the first shortened AAC clip you converted. Now return to the folder where the .m4r file was created, drag the file into iTunes, and drop it onto your iPhone on the sidebar. Your ringtone is ready to go!
